Tasting the ropes

Shibari:

Tasting the ropes

About this workshop

The very basics

Tasting the Ropes is a gentle introduction to the art of Shibari, created for those who are curious but have little or no experience with rope.

It’s a workshop about discovery, touch, rhythm, and play. No expectations, no pressure, just an open space to experiment, laugh, and learn.

In this class, we experiment with rope through play and curiosity, focusing on just two simple ties that open endless possibilities. With these minimal techniques, you’ll be encouraged to explore movement, connection, and creativity, discovering how much can be expressed with so little. It’s a hands-on experience designed to help you feel whether Shibari could become more than a passing curiosity. Perhaps even a passion.

You’re welcome to join alone or with a partner. Many people come solo, curious to explore at their own pace. If you attend on your own, we’ll pair you with another participant so you can both experience the art of tying and being tied. Each class is designed to let you explore both sides of the rope, though if you prefer to remain in a single role, we recommend attending with a dedicated partner.

If you already have rope, you’re welcome to bring it along. For this class, we work with one 4-meter and one 8-meter rope or two 8-meter ropes. If you don’t yet own any, you can purchase a beginner’s set directly from us.

No previous experience is required. This workshop is designed for those standing at the very beginning of their rope journey: a chance to explore, to learn, and to discover whether this art speaks to you.

And if it does, Tasting the Ropes offers the perfect foundation for our six-week program, From First Knot to Semi-Suspension.

* Our workshops are non-refundable. When you book a workshop, please make sure to double-check if you can actually attend the day and time of your reservation.

** To not interfere with our schedule and that of the other participants, we can't interrupt our workshops for participants who arrive late.
