Shibari:

Technique

About this module

Practice makes perfect

This module is designed for those who already have some experience with Shibari or who have taken the first module:

1. Introduction to Shibari.

During a 5 hour class we will follow up on your tying skills. We will focus on important building blocks in Shibari such as TK and other complex ties, and spend a fair amount of time on exercises combining different skills.

Secondly, you will be taught different techniques to connect with your partner and communicate through rope.

Though this module is focussing on floor work only, the techniques taught are also applicable in future (semi) suspension workshops and classes.

Topics include:

  • building a rope session
  • connecting to your partner
  • building blocks in Shibari
  • complex ties
  • manipulating the body
  • rope handling

Minimum requirements to be able to participate in this workshop are mastering basic ties and knots like lark’s head, square knot, half hitch, munter hitch, cow hitch, x-friction and single and double column ties.

Just like our other workshops and modules, you don't necessarily need a partner to be able to participate in this course. If you participate as a single, we will randomly match you with another participant to practice together. As this module is designed for both parties to learn, there is the possibility to switch.

We recommend fitting, comfortable clothes for the rigger as well as the model. You will need a minimum of 3 jute or hemp ropes, preferably with a 5 or 6mm width and 8m length.
