BONDAGE ROPE

Bondage rope

The art of Shibari

Shibari, or Kinbaku, is a contemporary aesthetic and erotic form of rope bondage that originated in Japan.

Instead of knots, Shibari bondage uses simple yet visually intricate patterns called frictions to keep the ties in place. Frictions connect bands of rope tightly, so they support each other and don’t slip out of position. Therefore, it’s essential to use the correct type of rope.

Material

Subspace's ropes are natural twisted hemp ropes with a diameter of 6 mm.

We’ve personally hand-washed, dried, singed, and oil-treated them, so they are ready to go! Our hemp ropes are strong, supple, low-stretch, and don’t burn the skin, making them suitable for sophisticated and advanced bondage play.

Care

Hemp rope is 100% natural and biodegradable and is therefore not rot-proof. Store the rope in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to protect it from moisture.

We recommend not washing the ropes and maintaining them with special oil like jojoba or mink oil. Treating them with oil will smooth the fibers out and protect the rope from wear and tear.

How to use.

Subspace is the place to go to if you are new to Shibari. In our small group workshops we'll teach you everything you need to know, from the very basics to complex suspensions.
